Alternative Policy Analysis
Possible Government Solutions Include:
- State and federal governments provide additional funding towards higher education institutions by increasing taxes and/or cutting funding from other programs.
- State or federal governments create, pass, and implement laws regulating the price of higher education; including tuition and fees in order to keep annual tuition hikes and fees more in line with consumer price index (inflation).
- State and federal governments create a public service campaign to promote awareness, solutions, and transparency about this issue. In other words, inform the voters, make them aware of strengths and weaknesses, and ultimately the trade-offs involved in lower the cost of higher education.
